Hungerhill School

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

Hungerhill takes a strong stance against bullying, in line with our Anti-Bullying Safe to Learn Policy. We use the acronym STOP in everyday school life to identify bullying incidents.

Here you will find information about the role our students play in Anti-Bullying and the diverse range of actions to promote Anti-Bullying at Hungerhill.

We held a whole school competition to design our Anti-Bullying pledge. This is the winning pledge, designed by Jocelyn Silcock in 11U. It is proudly displayed in every form room in school and every student has signed their allegiance to it.

Anti-Bullying Student Leaders

We have a dedicated team of Student Leaders who are our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. Their role involves:

- Weekly lunchtime meetings to respond to bullying concerns and plan Anti-Bullying initiatives.

- Monitoring the Worry Box and providing peer support to students who have shared a concern.

- Monitoring the reachout@hungerhillschool.com email to support students who have emailed their concerns. The students have received appropriate Safeguarding training to identify when emails need to be shared with Mrs Turner/the DSL.

- Running the Safe Space to provide peer support for any students who are concerned about bullying.

- Supporting Mrs Turner in planning and delivering Anti-Bullying assemblies

- Working towards further Anti-Bullying awards.

Anti-Bullying Awards

In January 2024, we achieved the Doncaster Council Gold Charter Mark for Anti-Bullying. Our Student Ambassadors collated evidence for each of the 18 strands of the award and presented these in person. This was followed by a challenging question and answer session, which they performed exceedingly well at.

In July 2024, we were award the Anti-Bullying Diana Award for Wellbeing. Our Anti-Bullying Student Ambassadors collated and submitted evidence of 5 strands of our Anti-Bullying action and the positive impact they’ve had.

On 17th September 2024, our Anti-Bullying Student Ambassadors attended a full day of training from the Diana Award charity. They looked at a variety of scenarios and learnt a wide range of anti-bullying strategies. They all achieved the certificate and badge at the end of the day and they were commended on their outstanding effort and attitude throughout.

Next Steps

The Diana Award Community Badge

Following our training session, we are now planning how we will achieve the Diana Award Community Badge. The Student Ambassadors have written an action plan to present to Mrs Crawford. We will update you on their progress throughout the academic year!

Odd Socks Day 2024

The Anti-Bullying Student Ambassadors are currently working on plans for our Odd Socks Day 2024 to be bigger and better than ever before. They have a range of new ideas to celebrate individuality at Hungerhill and raise additional funds for Anti-Bullying charities.
