GCSE Results - Class of 2024

Students and staff at Hungerhill School celebrate another fantastic set of results!

Students and staff at Hungerhill School celebrate another fantastic set of results, with the school achieving an impressive Attainment 8 score of 50.82.

A total of 53% of students achieved the strong pass of grade 5 or better in English and maths while 77% achieved a standard pass in both. There were excellent performances from these individual departments; 86.8% of Year 11’s recorded a standard level 4 pass in English, with 74% achieving the strong grade 5 or above. In Maths, 78% reached level 4 with 56% achieving grade 5 or higher.

Mrs Pond, the Headteacher said ‘Congratulations to all our Year 11 students who have displayed resilience and perseverance, especially during the examination period. I am extremely proud of all that they have achieved. It has been a pleasure to watch them grow throughout their time at Hungerhill, and I am delighted that in my final year of Headship at the school, I am able to share such an excellent set of results with them today. I am confident that these results will allow them to be hugely successful in their next steps. I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents/carers for the support they have given to their child over the course of the last 5 years and I would also like to give a special mention to our superb team of staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure each student has had the best chance to achieve success'. Mrs Pond also added that ‘Hungerhill’s results are especially impressive, given the ambitious GCSE courses we run at KS4, which demonstrates the value that we place on tougher subjects instead of their equivalences’.

The CEO of Brighter Futures Learning Partnership Trust, Mrs Redford-Hernandez stated that, “We are incredibly proud of our students who have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results. We share the pride your parents and family feel today, and we know this is a reflection of the hard work and dedication you have shown over the last few months.

Thanks also to our committed and caring staff and parents who have invested so much time and energy in making this year’s results possible. We are extremely proud of you all and wish everyone great success for the future.

Students in science did particularly well with 98% of the Separate Science cohort achieving a grade 5 or above in all 3 sciences and students studying Combined Science did equally as well, as strong passes were recorded by 56% of this cohort of students.

The English Baccalaureate average points score was 4.75, which is especially significant as 58% of the cohort study qualifications to meet the requirements of the EBacc route. Excellent results from Science, French and Spanish greatly contributed to this success, with French achieving 85% at 5 plus and Spanish 75%.

Students who study a vocational qualification have performed especially well, which is impressive given this is the first year of the new, more demanding specifications. In particular, Art and Design Practice had an average grade of a Level 2 Merit, as did Sports Science. Students studying the latter excelled with 15 distinctions and 5 distinction stars, which accounts for half of the cohort.

Special congratulations to Eve Clift who achieved 7 grade 9’s and 3 grade 8’s. Other high performing students are:

  • Grace Blair
  • Katie Liddle
  • Joel Robertson
  • Lola Swinson-Jones
  • Rohail Habib

As a school, we are however extremely proud of all our students' successes - we all know that they have been earned, are well deserved and are a result of students significant and sustained efforts. We wish all our students all the best, these results will stand them in good stead for their future allowing them to achieve their hopes, ambitions and dreams.
